Marc Newson designs perfume bottles for Louis Vuitton

Renowned industrial designer Marc Newson has created Flacon d 'Exception, a limited-edition fragrance for French luxury brand Louis Vuitton. This is a collection of works, each bottle body has an exclusive number.

The bottle adopts precious crystal from Baccarat, the top French crystal brand. Baccarat's blowing technology has a history of 250 years. The black crystal cap is hand-painted with a Louis Vuitton circular logo in gold enamel. The perfume is placed on a delicate leather base with a rounded glass cover.

Each one-liter bottle costs $16,500 and is limited to 200 units.

"I wanted to create something whimsical, fun and functional at the same time," says Marc Newson. It has been scaled up to a sculptural size and takes inspiration from the way antique perfumes are displayed."

Flacon d 'Exception includes three signature Louis Vuitton scents: Rose des Vents (Roses in the Wind), Matiere Noire (dark surges) and L 'Immensite by perfumer Jacques Cavallier Belletrud.

Rose des Vents smells like a Rose garden, with irises and cedar accents adding a silky feel. White musk is added to enrich the notes.

Matiere Noire is a dark, exotic forest of patchouli and agarwood, wild notes amplified by blackcurrants that contrast with daffodil and jasmine.

L 'Immensite is fresher and fresher, fresh ginger lightened by the bitterness of grapefruit but softened by the notes of amber.

Marc Newson designed Les Parfums perfume bottles for Louis Vuitton in 2016.

Marc Newson, 58, from Australia, was hired by Ford in the late 1990s to design a concept car, the 021C, which made its debut at the Tokyo Motor Show in 1999, winning the Best Concept award. Marc Newson has also worked on furniture, watches, mobile phones and spaceships, as well as sneakers for Nike. In September 2014, Marc Newson joined Apple as senior Vice President of Design for chief Design Officer Jonathan Ive's team.

In 2019, he founded creative group LoveFrom with Jony Ive. Last September, the two announced a partnership with Ferrari's parent company, The Italian Exor Group.
