Glass with a sense of design

As a versatile material, glass can be used in craft or industrial production, its appeal is that it never goes out of date, and the unique material texture also gives it irreplaceable qualities.

Although the traditional tools used in glass blowing are much the same, changes in manufacturing techniques have also made many new types of glassware possible. Here are eight unique pieces of contemporary glass design!

Rise&Drift is a project by london-based designer Hideki Yoshimoto for WonderGlass that aims to recreate the appearance of bubbles and the refraction of light in water.Yoshimoto wanted to experiment with the complex ways light travels and reflects in different materials to create captivating visuals.

London-based design duo Raw-Edges were invited to create the installation for Venetian glass brand Wonderglass, inspired by the synchronicity of The Israeli dance known as' Horah '.

The series explores an ongoing recurring theme, with light installations that convey the essential quality of dance: movement.

Each lamp is made of curved glass "leaves" connected to a rotating motor, and the glass section is professionally made using glass casting technology.  The light is hidden in the center, creating a gradient of light.

In DUO, sand from different parts of the world is both the material and the glass itself.

When heated to 1575 °C, the sand becomes liquid and is co-infused with the glass, which shows different patterns and textures and creates a tactile experience that reconnects the user to nature.
